The National Museum of Wildlife Art
If you're visiting Grand Teton National Park or Jackson, Wyoming, make sure to stop by the National Museum of Wildlife Art—it's a must! Not only does it showcase an incredible collection of over 550 artists, but it also features an outdoor sculpture trail and breathtaking views of the Elk Refuge.
The museum is a comfortable size, about a quarter of the size of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West here in Cody. You can explore the indoor exhibits in around two hours, but if you're in a rush, you could still make it through in an hour. However, it’s easy to turn your visit into a full-day experience. Start with a relaxing walk around the outdoor sculptures and enjoy the stunning views, then grab lunch at their lovely restaurant, Palate. They've got both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can soak up the scenery.
On my visit, I split it into two stops because I was short on time. The first day, I explored the outdoor sculptures and took in the views of the refuge—it’s free to hang out outside, so if you’re on a budget, that’s a great option. The second time, I visited the museum itself, and even though I only had a couple of hours, I really enjoyed the exhibits.
Tickets were $18 in 2024, but you can check their website for current prices and hours. I highly recommend visiting—it's a unique experience! I always include the National Museum of Wildlife Art in my itineraries for Jackson Hole, which you can find here.
I'll write more about Palate soon, but I had a fantastic meal there—definitely worth a stop on its own!
